My most used digital tools
The tool doesn't make the artist, but it does help.
№ 1 — Figma
Where I spend the majority of my digital design time. This was one tool that took me a while to actually trust, especially with their shady pricing plans. Each update feels closer to actually building for the web with the flexibility of a design tool. The dangers of that too much time is being spent in maintaining design systems.
№ 2 — Webflow
After Adobe Muse was discontinued, I needed a new tool which allowed to me build websites in a visual way. Squarespace felt too limiting, other apps didn't exist yet. I discovered Webflow, and really dived into it when their CMS released. Since then I've built everything from portfolio sites, landing pages, e-commerce stores, app prototypes and even platforms.
№ 3 — Apple Notes
From Evernote, to Notion to Obsidian. All note-taking-roads lead to Apple Notes. Simple and always there. Notes knows you'll come back, it's just a matter of time.
№ 4 — Eagle / Mymind
Where I store anything I want to keep online.
№ 5 — Lightroom / Apple Photos
Day to day things are stored in Apple photos, while things shot with other cameras are brought into Lightroom.
№ 6 — Finder with iCloud
Another Apple app, this time core to macOS. I've tried every cloud storage management app out there, and in the end keep coming back to iCloud Drive. While not (by far) perfect, it does what I need it to do. I've tried using tag, and spent a stupid amount of time trying different naming conventions, always comes back to either "Client_Project_File" or "YYYY-MM-DD_Client_Project_File".
№ 7 — Rive
I've been getting a lot of motion projects recently, and started trying Rive after growing frustrated with After Effects (feels so dated, heavy and slow). While it's not there with everything (no shadow support, blurs and other effects), it's quick and feel intuitive. Something I love is how light the files are and instantly sharable online. I've started wrapping my head around the interactivity side which has opened a whole new world. (Also my computer doesn't warn me of lack of storage EVERY time I open it).
