Journal — September Edition

Hello friends.

This is the first post after returning from my summer holiday, which I only realised I needed a couple of days in. At first, I was antsy—checking emails, preparing ideas and notes—things that really didn’t matter. I missed the work and yearned for it. It gives me purpose, small dopamine hits whenever a task is completed. It was only after a few days that I truly began to relax. I noticed my speech becoming more slurred, and I felt dazed and slow. We ate happily, lounged about, and absorbed rays of sun. Things slowed down.

Then, little stories started trickling in. Imaginary characters suddenly sprang to life. My mind filled up with unfinished and unstarted stories, pleading to be brought to life. I filled a small notebook with random scribbles and words as they moved from a spark in my brain to existence on a page. The creative process truly is a magical thing. I’ve often heard it said that we are all antennas picking up little thoughts that float around; we just have to be tuned in.

Clichéd as it may sound, I feel creatively recharged, rested, and am trying to find a way to sustain this energy. I’m aiming to work less, more focused, and to allow for more play and rest. I’m trying to ignore the self-inflicted guilt and be more than just the work I do.

Onwards and upwards,
Will

Recap

I like the idea of recapping the last month, seeing what I've done and where I can improve. It's a way of looking back while keeping myself accountable.

My status as a Webflow Expert has provided me with a steady stream of new projects and has also allowed me to test the processes I’ve spent the last couple of weeks refining. So far, things have been running smoothly—I just need to improve the capture and share workflow.

CrowdBuilding has yet another new landing page, each iteration bringing us closer to understanding what they are and what they’re doing. It’s getting there.

MOSS is finally being rebuilt in Shopify, and basic tests have shown that almost everything, except the dates, is working as expected.

No news yet on the studio, but here’s hoping.

Scribble is really almost, almost ready! Launching at the end of October!

Watching

We finished the brilliant Kaos in a couple of evenings. Fingers firmly crossed that a season two will be confirmed soon, since Netflix has a habit of cancelling my favourite shows…

Listening

(Looking For) The Heart of Saturday Night – Tom Waits beautiful beautiful beautiful. I stumbled upon this randomly and fell in love with how relatable and human it feels.
