Scribble – December Edition

Hi friends,

Last day of the year – Always a little sad for the time passed mixed with optimism for whats to come. I’m writing this from sunny Italy, overlooking mountains, the ocean, and the faint sound of fireworks in the distance.

As I look back, I realise what a whirlwind it has been. This year didn’t turn out as many of us hoped—often feeling as though the world is leaning further into hate—but I’ve seen first-hand how each of us can make a real difference. Art, in all its forms, remains a powerful force for connection and hope. It’s also been a year that reminded me how precious time is, and how easily it slips away.

For me, this year was about creating the space, time, and energy to be creative by streamlining processes and improving client communication. I spent too much time saying yes to things that don’t really matter or worrying about things I can’t control, and not enough time following my intuition or simply being with the people I love. Learning to say no and managing projects is still tough, but it’s the only way to protect the mental space I need for creating and recharging. It’s also been about figuring out how I can make valuable work while growing the studio. Because most of my income comes from design, I realised I had to refine my approach and prioritise communication to keep everything running smoothly.

So, as I wrap up this year, I’m determined to guard my time more carefully and focus on the projects that feel most important. I’ve got a good amount of work lined up until the summer, a new space coming in March, and it feels like the foundation is set for an exciting and fulfilling 2025. I’m looking forward to finding a healthier balance between design and art, and to making room for growth, rest, and fresh ideas.

Onwards, upwards, and wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year,

Will
